Obituary for Augusta Grace Saucer

Augusta Grace Derrick Saucer passed unto the Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly on January 5, 2018.
She was known by many achievements and titles in her life. She was an Army Engineer Captain who served in Afghanistan with the 864 Engineer Battalion. She was a social worker who devoted her life working with the mentally ill at the Southwest Virginia Mental Health Institute. She was an avid living historian giving her time and energy into research and reproduction of medieval arts. Augusta was a loving wife to her husband. She was a devoted mother to many cats.
Augusta is survived by her husband, Thomas Saucer; her grandmother, Eva Brown; her brothers, Lester Derrick and Charles Derrick; her sisters, Teri Milbourn and Christine Derrick; and several loved nieces and nephews. Augusta has rejoined her father, John Derrick, and mother, Linda Derrick.
Services will be held at the Appalachian Funeral Home (800 E. Watauga Ave, Johnson City, TN) on Friday, January 12, 2018. The family will be receiving visitors from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, with services starting at 12:30. Immediately following the memorial services, there will be a graveside service at the Mountain Home VA National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, we recommend donation to the following charitable organizations in her honor: the Disabled American Veterans, the American Cancer Society, or the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
