Obituary for Thomas William Altman

Thomas William Altman
Thomas “Tommy” W. Altman, age 77, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord following a lenthgy illness. Mr. Altman born on February 15, 1940 in Greene County to the late T.D. and Earlene Altman. He was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Altman was formerly employed at Interstate Foundry, Johnson City Foundry, and Kingsport Foundry. Tommy was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a maintenance man and a great mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Dugger; brother, Jerry Atman; sister, Jean Deloach.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Becky Gillette Altman, Johnson City; a daughter, Teri Vines and husband Tim, Johnson City; two grandchildren, Andrew Dugger and Audrey King, both of Johnson City. Several great grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Altman will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Yelton officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 13 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Gillette, Dr. Jeff Farrow and Dr. Frank Forbush.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist in the funeral expenses.
