Obituary for John Henry Campbell Sr.

John Henry Campbell Sr.
John H. Campbell, 62, Elizabethton, formerly of Johnson City, died Thursday, September 28, 2017, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.
John was a resident of Johnson City for most of his life. He was a son of the late Manuel Albert and Nettie Catherine Roe Campbell.
John was formerly employed with American Water Heater.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
John was of the Pentecostal faith.
He enjoyed watching television.
John is survived by his wife, Wilma Campbell; five children, Henry Campbell, II and wife Nicky, Kentucky, Jennifer Ann Campbell and Julie Emiline Campbell, both of Illinois, Angela Presnell and husband Dwight, Johnson City, Randy Phipps and wife Debra, Elizabethton; one brother, Manuel Albert Campbell and wife Phyllis, Johnson City; four sisters, Charlotte Hoilman and husband Gene, Maryland, Janice Ledford and husband Kenny Snyder, Jonesborough, Betty Smith and husband John, Piney Flats, Juanita Clemons and husband Vernon, Johnson City; granddaughters, Bethany McClellan, Johnson City and Baylee Phipps, Greeneville; great-grandson, Na’Kel Johnson, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews; John’s good buddy, Max.
The Campbell family would like to thank Caris Hospice, Matt Crusenberry with Procareer, and Sue Creger with Homestead, for the excellent care given to John during his illness.
The funeral service will be conducted Monday, October 2, 2017, at 7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Pastor Matt Young, officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday prior to the service from 5:00-7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside committal service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. in Mountain Home National Cemetery, with military honors being accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be John Henry Campbell, II, Randy Phipps, Dwight Presnell, Garrison Presnell, Doug Grissom and Paul Brooks. Honorary pallbearer will be John’s good friend, Billy Stout. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 P.M. to proceed to the cemetery.
